Creating a passionate community of people ready for recommendations on how to live a better life. Recommendations they want and need, from those they know and trust.
Recspot is a platform that allows users to share their own recommendations and recommendations they want and need.
RecSpot is a social app that makes sharing what you love with your friends easy and fun. Never again will you spend a lonely night endlessly searching Netflix for something to watch. Created by entrepreneurs and pop-culture obsessives who’ve built for leading brands such as Amazon, SoulCycle, Equinox, and Hermes, RecSpot is the new, go-to destination for exchanging, discovering, and watching your favorite movies and television shows. And for finding the perfect restaurant for what you’re in the mood to eat, just the right hotel while traveling, the season’s hottest songs, and almost anything else that makes life better. All recommended by people you know and trust. Because reviews are everywhere you turn and impossible to keep straight. And they are from people you don’t know with taste you can’t trust, or by paid reviewers—or even worse, bots. Until now there has not been one place to organize all of your best, most trustworthy recommendations. In other words: goodbye bots, hello good times!
The more you and your friends share on RecSpot, the more great stuff you’ll find in your feed. Your RecSpot Universe, which shows you a quick (and we think good looking!) graphic representation of which friends are recommending what, evolves and changes as your community of trusted sources adds more activities. You’ll soon discover movies, tv shows, music, books, and more that you didn’t even know existed. Then, without leaving the app, message your friends to let them know all about it—or start a group for a viewing party! You’ll do everything safely and securely; RecSpot knows how important your privacy is and we will not share personal data with anyone.
Featuring integrations with the media and entertainment industries—you’ll seamlessly see your friends' movie ratings and comments or an actor’s info page—and a dynamic, intuitive design. We’re creating a vibrant community for new and exciting recommendations you won’t find anywhere else. Because who knows what you like better than your best friends?
Ian remembers when cameras came to flip phones. This was before the iPhone changed everything. But even back then, he thought these new mobile cameras might be a way to easily share things he likes with friends—things like tv shows, movies, music, restaurants, bars, and travel recommendations—and in the process, improve their lives. At the time, however, mobile-phone image quality left a lot to be desired. And a reliance on texting over slow networks meant sharing was not as fast and fun as it should be. So Ian put the idea aside—but he never forgot about it. In the years that followed, massive changes came to mobile tech and networks. Ian saw that the infrastructure to share his favorite discoveries had finally arrived. Now, easily exchanging recs with his friends and family not only seems possible to Ian, it seems thrillingly necessary to his life. And that’s why he started RecSpot. To share his idea about sharing with the rest of the world.
